“We want to build strong, trusting relationships with our families, not just their children,” says Theresa Peacock, Headteacher at Gainsborough Parish. “When we support the whole family, we create the stability, confidence, and partnership that children need to truly flourish. Going above and beyond for us means being there in the moments that matter most, listening with care, and working hand-in-hand to remove barriers so every child can thrive.”
This care extends far beyond the classroom. Gainsborough Parish offers a food bank for families facing hardship, a welcoming Cookery Club for parents, and regular “Here to Help” sessions, providing practical advice and parenting support that makes a real difference.
“Being part of LAAT also gives us access to invaluable support, such as the Love as Action – Together Fund, which allows us to respond quickly and practically to families in need,” Theresa adds.
The school also has a dedicated Nurture Team, offering personalised support for children to manage emotions, rebuild self-worth, grow resilience, and develop essential communication skills.
The impact is felt across the whole community. As one parent shared: “Staff at the school support not only the child but the whole family and have been true diamonds throughout my child’s time at the school.”
Ofsted has recognised this dedication too, noting that “Parents appreciate the supportive community.”
By putting families at the centre and going above and beyond in every aspect of school life, Gainsborough Parish is creating more than academic success, it is nurturing confidence, fostering connection, and building a community where every child and every family can truly thrive.
