Branston Church of England Infant Academy has been recognised as an *Outstanding* school in its most recent Ofsted inspection. “Pupils thrive at this inclusive and caring school” says the report. “The school has high expectations of all pupils. They achieve exceptionally well,” it goes on to say.
One of the standout features of the inspection was the school’s ambitious and well-structured curriculum. The inspectors commented, “The school has designed a broad and ambitious curriculum for all pupils. It is well planned and precisely identifies what pupils will learn and when.” The report commended teachers for their excellent subject knowledge and their ability to model new learning effectively.
Reception was also singled out for providing a stimulating and nurturing environment where children are highly engaged. Ofsted reported, “Staff know exactly what they want children to learn and provide highly effective learning activities that children engage with exceptionally well.”
Ofsted praised the children’s behaviour and acknowledged the hard work the school put in to ensure pupils were motivated to work and behave well. “Pupils know to treat others from different backgrounds with respect. They are exceptionally well-prepared for their next steps.”
Headteacher Lianne Cook commented, “We are thrilled with the outcome. Achieving this standard is a huge team effort, and it goes to show the impact of being part of LAAT.”
Branston is part of Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust (LAAT), a community of 21 schools in Lincolnshire. The Trust’s extensive CPD and staff development programme was recognised: “Staff benefit from an extensive range of high-quality professional development that builds their expertise in delivering the curriculum.”
“I couldn’t be prouder. The phenomenal hard work of the whole team is relentless, and Ofsted’s rating confirms our long-held belief that Branston is an Outstanding school.” Says LAAT CEO, Jackie Waters-Dewhurst
