about us

digital strategy

Digital technology is deeply woven into life in the UK, with over 85% of organisations surveyed in the 2023 Future of Jobs report anticipating increased adoption of new and frontier technologies in the next five years. This makes digital literacy an essential skill for every child. However, digital literacy goes beyond merely knowing how to use technology; it encompasses the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that empower children to navigate the digital world safely and with confidence.

Digital literacy empowers children in all aspects of their lives – whether they’re playing, socialising, participating in online communities, searching for information, or learning through digital platforms. What digital literacy means can differ based on a child’s age, local culture, and environment, but its importance remains universal.

Why have a Digital Strategy?

At LAAT we have developed a Digital Strategy to enhance learning outcomes, prepare students for the future, and improve overall school management. It supports equity and inclusion, fosters better communication, and ensures that schools can adapt to changing educational landscapes, making it a critical component of modern education.

Digital Strategy: Powered by Equity

Our digital strategy has been developed to bridge educational gaps by providing access to quality learning materials for all students, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Providing personalised support for students with different needs, including those with disabilities, through assistive technologies and tailored learning programmes.

What is the Trust doing?

We’ve conducted a series of audits across the Trust to help shape our strategy for moving forward:

– Devices

After conducting a comprehensive audit across all our schools, we’ve invested £150,000 to ensure that our staff have the necessary devices to support their work. Additionally, we’ve set a clear goal: within the next three years, every vulnerable child will have individual access to digital education through a 1:1 device programme.

– Internet connectivity

We’ve also invested approximately £60,000 to ensure that internet connectivity at each of our schools meets the necessary standards. Additionally, we have identified four schools that qualify for government funding to further enhance their connectivity.

Digital strategy for staff

Our digital strategy extends across the entire LAAT community, recognising that to improve outcomes for children, we must first empower our staff. We are partnering with Primary Goal and Computeam, to implement a comprehensive programme that equips our staff with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support and utilise technology in the classroom.

We are offering 3 different apprenticeship programmes

  • Digital Champion programme –  designed to give Educators the confidence to plan for the role of technology to enhance teaching and learning, reduce workload, support accessibility and inclusion, and narrow the digital divide. Digital Champions have the opportunity to work towards extra Microsoft accreditation.
  • Digital Professional Services programme – designed to support back-office professionals to get the most effective use out of the digital technologies within the back-office functions, looking at efficiencies such as AI and automation across to reduce workload and digitalise policies and procedures
  • Senior Leader Digital programme – designed to support Senior Leaders to develop, implement and measure the impact of a digital transformation strategy that supports the effective use of technology teaching and learning. Senior Leaders have the opportunity to gain a Level 5 Digital Innovation Module.
