LAAT is proud to announce that it has officially signed the Department for Education’s (DfE) Education Staff Wellbeing Charter, joining schools and trusts across the country in making staff well-being the heart of education.
For LAAT, signing the Charter is not the beginning of a well-being journey but a formal affirmation of the values and practices already embedded across the Trust. The principles outlined in the Charter – such as supporting mental health, maintaining work-life balance, and enabling professional development – closely align with LAAT’s long-standing focus on creating a culture where staff feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.
Laura Lowe, Director of Colleague Services at LAAT, commented: “We believe that staff well-being is not just an initiative but a foundation of effective education. The Charter reinforces what we already strive for in all our schools – a supportive, caring environment where colleagues can flourish professionally and personally. This public commitment reflects our values in action.”
The Charter provides a national framework for promoting the mental health and well-being of education professionals, and LAAT’s signature underlines the Trust’s belief that staff well-being is fundamental to the success of pupils and communities.
By signing the Charter, LAAT continues to commit to:
- Prioritising staff mental health and wellbeing
- Acting on staff voice and feedback
- Encouraging flexible working where appropriate
- Equipping leaders to lead with empathy
- Providing meaningful professional development opportunities
This step sits alongside LAAT’s broader strategy to build inclusive, healthy, and sustainable working environments across its growing family of schools.
