LAAT strengthens school improvement service with new appointment

As part of a continuing commitment to school improvement, the Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust (LAAT) has appointed Jayne Carter to its team of School Effectiveness Advisors (SEA). Jayne will join the successful Multi-Academy Trust in September 2021 and brings a wealth of experience in leading school improvement to her new role, together with excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. In her position as SEA she will support a creative, multi-faceted school improvement service across the Trust’s diverse range of academies, empowering school teams to improve teaching and learning standards.  Her responsibilities will include keeping the Trust up to date with current educational policy and research, and helping to build strong, effective partnerships with a variety of stakeholders in education. 

Established by the Diocese of Lincoln in December 2013, LAAT is a unique organisation that celebrates the individuality of every school, whilst promoting an uncompromising belief in the power of collaboration to support all its c3000 pupils to be the best they can be. Although Jayne will be based in Lincoln, the post of SEA involves significant travel, mainly between Trust Schools in South Lincolnshire but also across greater Lincolnshire as required. 

With over 25 years’ experience as an educational consultant working across a diverse variety of schools and settings, both locally and nationally, Jayne will be a significant asset to the LAAT and its growing family of academies. Her proven track record in school improvement, together with a focus on a coaching model to shape consultancy and CPD, complements the Trust’s existing team of dedicated and dynamic professionals. Jayne will contribute her skills as a CPD accredited facilitator for NCETM (National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Maths) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Learning – both leading UK providers of learning resources for teachers. She is also a qualified Elklan speech and language trainer. In addition to these impressive credentials Jayne is an author for Oxford University Press and an award-winning writer for Nexus Education.

Jayne says the values included in the LAAT’s vision and principles, particularly ‘excellence, exploration and encouragement within the love of God’, align with her own ethos of respectful partnerships. She explains: “My motivation for applying for this significant role is to enhance my complete belief that all our children and young people deserve the absolute best life chances we can provide for them. I believe a proactive way to make this a reality is to equip the adults around them with the knowledge and tools they need to guide their children towards their own personalised goals and aspirations.”

As she looks forward to taking up her new role in September, Jayne says she will aim to foster a collaborative and supportive relationship with LAAT’s schools.  She concludes: “I aspire to be a colleague they can engage with to strengthen their own professional and pedagogical approaches with a clear focus on improving children’s knowledge and skills.”
