The Canon Peter Hall CE Primary School secures Government funding for free breakfast club

We are delighted to announce that The Canon Peter Hall Church of England Primary School, part of LAAT, has been awarded funding through the Government’s National Free Breakfast Club scheme.

This funding means that every child at our school will be able to enjoy a nutritious breakfast each morning, prepared in line with School Food Standards.

The breakfast club will open daily at 8.30 offering all pupils a free breakfast and the opportunity to spend time with friends before lessons begin.

The aim of this Government scheme is to support families with childcare at the start of the school day at no additional cost. The initiative enables parents to drop their children off earlier, helping them manage busy mornings and potentially saving working families up to £450 a year, the equivalent of up to 95 additional hours of childcare annually.

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson said: “Free breakfast clubs are revolutionising morning routines up and down the country, becoming an essential part of modern-day life for working families.”

The impact of the National School Breakfast Programme is already being seen across the country, with headteachers reporting a 98% improvement in pupils’ readiness to learn, a 97% increase in wellbeing, and an 82% improvement in achievement.

Headteacher Tracey Grove said: “We are very pleased to have secured this funding. We recognise the pressures many families are currently facing, and this initiative enables us to provide meaningful support while ensuring every child begins the school day well prepared to learn.”

Jackie Waters-Dewhurst, CEO of LAAT, commented: “At LAAT, we are committed to ensuring our schools play a positive role within their communities. This funding will help children begin each day ready to learn while offering practical support to families.”
